چکیده

This paper presents a survey of current research in the areas of work ow and work ow management systems. We motivate this work by introducing the underlying problems and how they can be addressed by work ow systems. We review and examine the terminology, concepts, methodologies, and problems in the relevant areas. The general requirements of work ow management systems are also introduced and discussed. We present the modeling and speci cation of both tasks and work ows. We also discuss the dependencies that exist between tasks and how to best de ne, model and enforce them. An important part of this survey is an examination of important products, including their characteristics and applications. The article is concluded by introducing some research issues which we believe to be critical for the advancement of the theory of work ow as well as the design and usage of work ow management systems.

Solution of Multi-Objective optimal reactive power dispatch using pareto optimality particle swarm optimization method

For multi-objective optimal reactive power dispatch (MORPD), a new approach is proposed where simultaneous minimization of the active power transmission loss, the bus voltage deviation and the voltage stability index of a power system are achieved. Optimal settings of continuous and discrete control variables (e.g. generator voltages, tap positions of tap changing transformers and the number of...

Transactions in Transactional Workflows

Work ow management systems WFMSs are nding wide applica bility in small and large organizational settings Advanced transaction models ATMs focus on maintaining data consistency and have provided solutions to many problems such as correctness consistency and reliability in transaction processing and database management environments While such concepts have yet to be solved in the domain of work ...

On Transactional Work ows

The basic transaction model has evolved over time to incorporate more complex transactions struc tures and to take the advantage of semantics of higher level operations that cannot be seen at the level of page reads and writes Well known examples of such extended transaction models include nested and multi level transactions A number of relaxed transaction models have been de ned in the last se...

An Extended Petri Net Model for Supporting Workflows in a Multilevel Secure Environment

This paper makes three contributions to the area ofmultilevel secure (MLS) work ow management systems (WFMS). First, it proposes a multilevel secure work ow transaction model. This model identi es the task dependencies in a work ow that cannot be enforced in order to meet multilevel security constraints. Second, it shows how Petri nets, a mathematical as well as a graphical tool, can be used to...

Failure Handling and Coordinated Execution of Concurrent Workflows

Work ow management systems (WFMSs) coordinate the execution of applications distributed over networks. In WFMSs, data inconsistencies can arise due to (i) the interaction between steps of concurrent threads within a work ow (intra-work ow coordination) (ii) the interaction between steps of concurrent work ows (interwork ow coordination) and (iii) the presence of failures. Since these problems h...
